Bonnie, over at Faith Barista is celebrating the gift of encouragement this month.
"We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. Romans 12: 6-8
Of all the spiritual gifts, I think sometimes we give the gift of encouragement the least credit. That seems funny, because we have all benefited from the well timed encouraging word at one time or another. That text from a friend to let you know they are thinking of you, the thanks from your boss, an email from a family member, someone posting on your FaceBook wall after a a discouraging day. Let's all make this the month of encouragement, everyday find one person you can encourage in some way. Send a card, say thanks, acknowledge someone's extra effort, pray for a friend who is going through a difficult time. Let's see just how creative we can get!
